Logos Bible Institute
Instituto Biblico Logos
Located
in the Mexicali town of Tamaulipas, Instituto Biblico Logos began
in
1985.
Following the example of our youth outreach teams, Pastor Antonio Agundez started planting
churches in nearby towns, and immediately saw the need for a local training center for
church leaders. At the same time, YUGO's leadership had been talking with longtime friend
and MGF missionary, Duane Kepner, about starting a Bible Institute in the area,
and God put it all together.
In 1984, we bought
the property and built a small auditorium that would double as a
sanctuary for Antonio's church. We then added a kitchen and dining hall, followed by a
dormitory building. Finally, we added offices, a classroom, a library and a nursery onto
the original adobe house that came with the property.
Since 1985, the school has trained many church leaders. Most graduates are not
able to find a ministry that would provide enough resources financially without
taking another job. For Mexicans, making a commitment to study ministry full
time for 3 years without the promise of making a living from it is quite a
commitment!
In 2001, we had a record number of 85 part time and 5
full time students. One of the reasons for all of this growth is the
excitement stirred up by local church mission trips
to the Mexican state of Sinaloa. Logos Institute
graduate Efrain Torres has been taking church members from nearby congregations, bringing them on a "missions trip." Upon returning,
many participants realize
their need to be trained and better prepared to share God's Word and enroll in
the Institute.
Ways you can help
- Work
crews are always needed to help with construction and maintenance
projects around the Institute property.
- Donations to the National Workers
Scholarship Fund. Students
are asked to pay for tuition, and their churches are asked to help. But many of them
need scholarships to follow through with their desires to be well-trained ministers of the
Gospel. Donations can be sent to our San Dimas office.
