Mercy Ministries
Mercy MinistriesIn a third-world country, like Mexico, most people are consumed with the daily struggles of survival. They struggle each day to obtain adequate food, housing and clothes for their family. Things such as medical and dental care are luxuries for them. When the sick are able to see a doctor, usually they discover the medications needed are simply unaffordable.  In order to assist the Mexican people in meeting their basic needs, YUGO has formed this "Mercy Ministries" division.

YUGO's Mercy Ministry programs are based in locations where full time YUGO missionaries are an active, supportive and encouraging presence among the needy. If you are interested in assisting with any of these Mercy Ministry programs, please contact our San Dimas office at (909) 592-6621.

In addition to the above ministries, YUGO has been able to provide for additional needs through three funding options: Shelter/Kitchen Fund, Emergency Medical Fund, and through General Fund donations.

Shelter / Kitchen Fund
The Shelter/Kitchen Fund has been used to help enclose poorly built Mexican homes.  Often times a family's home is not built strong enough to withstand the harsh environmental elements, as many homes are made from used garage doors or even plain cardboard boxes, with dirt floors and no windows. These funds enable YUGO to do repair and construction work to assist these families and improve their living conditions. What a blessing and humbling experience it is to be able to assist Mexican families is such a way.

This Shelter/Kitchen Fund has also provided for the construction of kitchens for the Breakfast Feeding programs in Colonia Cipres in Mexicali
, and in Tijuana.

Emergency Medical Fund
From time to time, Mexican pastors and church workers have emergency medical needs. YUGO helped pay the medical expenses for a pastor's son who had broken his arm. YUGO also provided an emergency appendectomy for a pastor's wife and helped another pastor who had broken his leg. As with other areas of Mercy Ministries, our desire is to provide for the physical needs of the Mexican people as well as provide for their spiritual needs through our church planting and Bible Institute ministries.

Mercy Ministries Fund & Material Donations
YUGO's Mercy Ministries Fund exists to help cover the costs for transporting donated materials across the border. Material donations can be made to a specific Mercy Ministries program, or general items (clothes and household items) will be accepted for distribution in Mexico.  YUGO accepts a wide variety of donated items, from cloth
ing to books to vans to property!  Specific donations of food, medical supplies, dental supplies and health/hygiene products (soaps and shampoo) can be made to our Breakfast Feeding Programs, Prison Ministry, or to Grace Children's Home.

Hint: For general items needed, shoes and jackets are always at the top of the list. Household items such as pots and pans, dishes, kitchen utensils, blankets, pillows, bedding, towels, curtains and carpet would also be greatly appreciated.  Please be advised, all items donated need to be in good, useable condition, given as unto the Lord.

Material donations can be dropped off at our San Diego or San Dimas (LA County) California offices. For larger material donations such as vehicles or property, please call our office at (909) 592-6621.We are also looking for volunteers to help transport these items into Mexico. This could be a regular ministry for anybody who lives in the Southern California area. Or, if you're visiting in the area and would like to see our ministries in Mexico, you can participate by taking a few items across the border on your way down!  Please contact Leonard Janssen for more information.
