YUGO’s Vehicle Donation Program

Why donate a vehicle to YUGO Ministries?

This is an excellent question.  Do it because your good used vehicle may have only a modest value, if you choose to sell it.  Do it because it will be a strategic tool in YUGO’s ministry.  Do it because it will extend your own personal ministry to include reaching people in Mexico with the love of Jesus Christ.  Do it because it will be a very special blessing to the missionary or Mexican Pastor who receives it.

Do you have a vehicle in good running condition, which you no longer need?

If you want it to meet a pressing ministry need, you can donate it to YUGO Ministries.  We will make arrangements to pick it up, transport it and handle all the Title and paperwork details for you.  Vehicles donated and used in ministry garner the highest possible (retail value) tax deduction.

To begin this process, please call our San Dimas, California office at: (909) 592-6621 or E-mail outreach@yugo.org.  Ask to speak with Wayne Freeland, and he will make the necessary arrangements with you.  When you call, it is helpful to have a copy of the registration available to refer to, while on the phone.

YUGO accepts cars, trucks, Mini-vans, camp trailers, 5th Wheels and RVs, which are in good operating condition.  Mini-vans and 4WD vehicles are especially needed.

Ask a Key Question

Effective in 2006, the Internal Revenue Service issued new limitations for the tax deduction you can receive, when you donate a vehicle to a tax exempt ministry.

If the ministry sells the vehicle (most often at a wholesale price), your tax deduction is limited to the sales price they received.  However, if the vehicle is used in the work of the organization (not sold), then you can deduct the full retail value of the vehicle.

So, when you donate a vehicle, you may want to ask if they will use it in their ministry or if they will be selling it to use the money in their work.

At YUGO, we occasionally do sell a vehicle.  But more than 90% of the vehicles we receive end up in ministry, meeting the transportation needs of our missionaries or other Christian workers in Mexico.
